Meditation

Today was my first meditation session for my class. As I didn't know what to expect, I tried to go in the class with my mind open. We had been instructed to leave our belongings and shoes in the hallway and to come quitely into the room so that we didn't disturb anyone. There was soft music playing and the room was a tad on the warm side.

Because I didn't know what to expect, I was amazed that the class went by so fast. We started class by laying down on the floor and going through a relaxation exercise, starting with our toes and worked our way up our bodies, letting all the tension go.

I have to admit, that I had trouble relaxing while lying on my back because we were basically laying on a hard floor with a thin carpet. I was greatful when we were finally told to sit up. We were then instructed to sit quietly for 5 minutes while concentrating on our breathing. After the time was up we went around the room and then summed up how we felt with one word.

By the end of the class, I was feeling very calm and focused. This feeling stayed with me on my walk home. I think I am going to enjoy Fridays in this class.
